Our strength training for older adults is designed to help you build strength, improve mobility, and boost overall health—whether you’re completely new to exercise or have years of experience in the gym.
We understand that starting or continuing a fitness routine later in life can feel daunting, but research has consistently shown that strength training is one of the most effective ways to maintain health, vitality, and independence as we age. With the right guidance, weight training is not only safe for older adults but offers an incredible range of benefits…
Strength training has been proven to increase bone density, reduce the risk of falls, improve joint health, and boost metabolism. It enhances cardiovascular health, supports better posture and balance, and even improves cognitive function. And the NHS strongly recommends regular strength training for older adults, stating that “Adults aged 65 and over should do activities that improve strength, balance and flexibility at least 2 days a week.”
We have a over a decade of experience in strength training for older adults; and each of our incredible clients, some training into their 80s, report feeling more energetic, confident, and capable in their day-to-day lives after starting a structured weight training programme with us. Whatever your starting point, you can trust The Fitting Rooms to create a safe, effective, and enjoyable programme to keep you strong, mobile, and active for years to come!
TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR FUTURE WITH STRENGTH TRAINING FOR OLDER ADULTS
Stronger Muscles | Healthier Joints | More Independence
Why weight train as you age?
Research has shown that strength training for older adults is one of the most important forms of exercise for maintaining quality of life as we get older. While activities like walking and cycling are great for heart health, weight training is essential for preserving muscle mass, protecting bone density, and keeping joints strong and mobile.
A well-structured weight training programme offers numerous health benefits, including improved posture, balance, and overall mobility, helping to reduce the risk of falls. It also supports a healthy metabolism, making it easier to maintain a balanced weight. Research highlights the positive impact of strength training on overall heart health and long-term well-being, both physically and mentally.
